Emporio Armani, a brief history

Emporio Armani is sub division of Giorgio Armani, this particular sub division has become very well know for watch sales. Along with Armani Exchange, Emporio Armani is the only division of the brand that make watches.

Giorgio Armani was born in the North of Italy in 1934 and he pursued a career in medicine initially. Later he joined the army and his training in medicine was put to use as he joined an infirmary unit. Eventually Giorgio would end up as a window dresser in a Milan department store, this was much more suited to his needs as he worked toward becoming a seller for the menswear department. In the role he was able to gain lots of practical experience. Giorgio would go on to become a clothes designer as his true passion and talent became apparent. He even designed clothes for Nino Cerruti.

1975 - Giorgio partners with Sergio Galeotti to found Giorgio Armani the brand and soon after his collection of clothing was ready to go.

1980 - The birth of the Emporio Armani range. Due to the success of the Giorgio line Emporio then launches swimwear and underwear lines, the brand also launched a massive TV campaign. The success of the campaign helps create a partnership with the film industry which continues to grow and to date the brand has had great partners and ambassadors such as The Beckhams, Christiano Ronaldo, Megan Fox, to name a few.

In the late 80’s and early 90’s the brand announced the start of Armani Exchange and released it’s new line watches and the brands success was fantastic from the start and to date the are one of the leaders in the fashion watch industry. Armani have become well known within the watch fashion industry for their very special and unique watch designs, like, the Ceramica range, the Meccanico range and more recently their Smart watch designs.

To date the brand have many sub categories as listed, Giorgio Armani Privé, Giorgio Armani, Armani Collezioni, Emporio Armani (including EA7), Armani Jeans, Armani Junior, and Armani Exchange
