Hugo Boss, a brief history

Hugo Boss are most well known for their clothing and high end garments. The brand was founded in 1923 by German born Hugo Boss himself. Early on they made their money from supplying military uniforms and they have come under scrutiny in recent years because of this. After the war and with Hugo’s death in 1948 the brand began a much needed change and began to focus more on the fashion industry and started with men’s suits and the move from military uniforms.

In the years to follow they ventured out to women’s clothes, fragrances, children’s wear and on to the jewellery and watch sector.

Nowadays Hugo Boss employs over 14,000 people and generates over 2, 733 million euros of revenue. The watches started to hit the scenes in the 90’s and along with the established brand image they have became a huge success. Hugo Boss continue to house Swiss movements and the watches are great quality. The watch range is at home in many retail stores and you can find the brand in dedicated Hugo Boss stores, specialist jewellers, boutiques and even online, they have really nailed it.
