Seiko watch 6138 - 0011 in for refurbishment, glass, bezel, strap and relume from Cherryhinton, Cambridge.

This very unusual Seiko ‘UFO’ watch arrived in our workshop after the customer Found our details online. They spoke with a technician and decided to send the watch into us for repair. The customer wanted the watch to work as well as possible and look as new as possible and we we’re told in no uncertain terms that money was no object as this watch had huge sentimental value.

We set to work finding all the parts needed to perform the refurbishment. These parts included a new glass, new bezel, new bezel insert, a new strap and correct colour lume for the hands. We had initially thought the watch would also need a service and had estimated for this. However, once tested we found the watch was keeping fairly accurate time so decided not to complete this work.

We polished the case and attempted to get the original finish as the watch would have had a matt streak effect that ran outward from the glass. The result was fantastic as you can see from the photos. We cleaned and loosened the push buttons as they were not engaging and releasing in the correct way.

The hands needed a little bit of attention as the luminous section was dull and the white had faded. We rectified this.

Finally we fit a new glass and bezel to finish off the look of the watch, these parts were hard to come by and we ordered them in from overseas.
