Has your hand ever been out of alignment?

Watch hands often slip out of alignment, or even fall off. It’s a very annoying situation when trying to work out the time and the hour hand is stuck between two numbers.

Hands needing to be aligned or re-attached is usually a result of the watch having a knock or bang. If a watch has been knocked hard enough to cause an issue with a hand it is very important that the watch is tested thoroughly. When a watch presents this type of issue it is also likely to have an underlying problem with the movement.

It is especially important to protect the dial whenever working on it. Dials are very easily marked and it’s very difficult to rectify so preparation is key. Watch Hub take a lot of care when working with any dial, we cover any dial we’re working on with plastic before we start, leaving just the area we will be working on, this helps to protect dial from things like finger prints and contamination.
