This collectable TAG Heuer 4000 series was sent in to the workshop with a very common problem with TAG’s, the crown/winder would not screw down. This is usually for one of two reasons, the crown is defective or the case tube is defective.
Most TAG’s are designed with screw down crowns to help stop contamination entering the watch and for water resistance. Due to the crown being used fairly often the threads on the tube and the crown wear down and eventually need replacing. Most manufacturers will insist the watch is serviced at the same time.
